CyBC Reveals Extra Details Regarding Selection

CyBC, the Cypriot broadcaster, has revealed additional details behind the selection of Antigoni, their representative for Eurovision 2026.

In a press release, CyBC explained that the selection process for the artist who will represent Cyprus in the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 consisted of two parts.

The first part consisted of a vote by a five-member expert committee. The committee was asked to choose from 9 artists proposed by Greek record companies.

Each member separately evaluated the artists proposed by the companies, rating them from 1 to 9, the same as the proposed artists.

The second part consisted of a questionnaire posted on the RIK website. The public had the opportunity to express their opinion on the artist’s profile and Cyprus’ participation in general.

Antigoni Buxton received the highest score, and as already announced, will represent Cyprus in the 70th Eurovision Song Contest in May 2026.

Antigoni Buxton is a British-Cypriot singer and songwriter from North London and has grown up surrounded by both British and Cypriot culture.

Antigoni has released several singles, including “Long Way Home”, “Never Gonna Love” and “Hit List”. Her music often features bilingual lyrics and reflects her identity as both British and Cypriot.

The Grand Final of the 70th edition will be held on Saturday, 16 May at the Wiener Stadthalle, Austria’s largest indoor arena, with Semi-Finals earlier the same week on Tuesday, 12 May and Thursday, 14 May.
