The date of the announcement of the artists of Sanremo 2026 has finally been revealed, the host and artistic director, Carlo Conti has confirmed when he will announce the names of the next Festival
During one of the Vanity Fair Stories episodes, the Sanremo Festival was discussed with artistic director Carlo Conti .
Together with Simone Marchetti, director of Vanity Fair, the Tuscan presenter recalledOrnella Vanoniand, as a sign of respect for his passing, has made it official that it has postponed the announcement of the big names for the next edition until Sunday, November 30, Conti stated:
“I was supposed to announce the names tomorrow on the 1:30 PM news program Tg1, but precisely because of this mourning that has hit the music world, I preferred to postpone it until next Sunday, November 30th,
would like to announce the names on November 23rd, but it will probably be postponed to November 30th. It will definitely be on Sunday and during the 1:30 PM news program Tg1. In reality, there is also a good Sunday, December 8th. I will try to do it on the 23rd, but I’m sure I won’t be able to, because the latecomers are arriving and I will probably spend another sleepless week.”
During the talk, the Vanity Fair editor-in-chief prodded Carlo Conti about the names. When asked about Patty Pravo, he replied, “Maybe.” Then, regarding the Festival’s opening, he added,
“I already have in mind who I’ll dedicate the opening to, just as last year I wanted to start with Ezio Bosso. The next one will be the first Festival without Pippo Baudo, and I think it’s right to dedicate it entirely to him. Sanremo, as we know it and do it, was invented by him.
There will certainly be some who will be disappointed: they submitted 230 songs, so 200 will be disappointed. Those excluded will surely dedicate a song by Masini to me, which is not ‘Ci vorrei il mare’ (smiles, ed.)”.
According to what mathematical logic suggests, the good Carlo Conti also confirmed that the big names will increase from 26 to 30. We just have to wait until next Sunday to find out who will be part of the Sanremo 2026 cast .
How the Campioni Contest works
Night One: All 30 competing artists will perform with the press room voting. At the end of the night the top five artists will be revealed in a random order.
Night Two & Three: Half of the artists will perform on each night, with the radio juries and televoters voting for their favourites, each will have a 50% say in the result. At the end of the night, the top five artists will be revealed in a random order.
Night Four: The fourth night will see the artists performing covers alongside guest acts. They will perform either Italian songs or international songs that were released before December 31, 2025. The results of this night will not contribute to the overall result.
Night Five: All thirty artists will return to the stage with their songs, with all three juries voting. Televoting will account for 34% of the result and the press room and radio jury voting will have a 33% say each. The nights results will be combined with those of nights one to three, with the acts placing 30th to 6th revealed. The top five will then progress to a final round of voting. The three juries will vote again and those results will be combined with all previous results to name the winner.
